When I was working at a leading private investment management company in Canada, I couldn't help but notice a glaring oversight: women invest significantly less than men, unintentionally missing out on an opportunity to build a substantial financial nest egg over time. In fact, a recent study reveals that only 36% of women currently invest, comparing to 63% of men.
It dawned on me that financial advisory services cater to individuals with substantial wealth, leaving many young women to navigate their financial journeys in isolation. To compound matters, schools neglect to equip us with the essential skills to manage our money effectively, which leads to many of us falling prey to inexperienced financial decisions and unnecessary fees. Recognizing the gap, I decided to create a solution: In Her Wallet.

On a mission to close the gender wealth gap
What started out as Sofiia's effort to help her closest friends get a grip on better money habits expanded into a realization: lack of financial literacy is part of a global problem. Today, she's actively studying behavioural economics, psychology and finance to better understand the root causes and develop a solution that not only transforms individual lives but also contributes to closing the gender wealth gap.
